Spencer Savings Bank, a community savings bank headquartered in Elmwood Park, N.J., hosted this year’s final Movies Under the Stars event with the Elmwood Park Recreation Department on Friday, September 21, 2012, drawing over 300 community residents.

Spencer Savings Bank partnered with the Elmwood Park Recreation Department to host the showing of “The Lorax,” a 2012 American computer-animated 3-D musical and comedy film, based on Dr. Seuss’ children’s book, concluding the bank’s summer Movies Under the Stars series. Over 300 community residents attended the complimentary event to watch the film, enjoy refreshments, and participate in a raffle for various prizes.

“With our roots as a community bank, we are committed to uniting the communities we serve by hosting numerous events for our neighbors to enjoy, such as our Movies Under the Stars series, and continuing to support local and national charitable organizations,” said José B. Guerrero, President of Spencer Savings Bank.

The summer-long series totaled five events, and included showings of the movie “Rio” in Elmwood Park, and the movie “We Bought a Zoo” in Wallington, Garfield and Cranford, in addition to “The Lorax” in Elmwood Park.  Admission was free, and moviegoers enjoyed raffles, freshly popped popcorn, cold beverages, and door prizes.  With a successful turnout and over fifteen hundred total attendees, Spencer Savings Bank will recommence its Movies Under the Stars series in the Spring of 2013.
