Attempted Robbery At Shell On Bloomfield Tuesday Evening
The following arrest information was provided by the Montclair Police Department and does not indicate a conviction.
Attempted Robbery
On Jan. 24, just before 10 p.m., an attempted robbery was reported at the Shell Gas Station on Bloomfield Avenue. A 20-year-old Montclair resident told police that he was walking through the Shell’s parking lot when he was approached by a man. He is described as a black man in his mid-20s, wearing a gray-colored hooded sweatshirt and black-colored pants. This suspect had his hands placed into his pockets and led the victim to believe that he had a weapon. The suspect asked the victim if he had any money, and the victim replied that he didn't. At that time, a second suspect, who had been standing nearby, began to walk towards the victim at a fast pace. This second suspect was described as a black man, also in his mid-20s, wearing a dark-colored jacket and dark-colored pants.
The victim believed that he was about to be robbed and fled north on Pine Street. While running, the victim looked back and lost sight of the suspects. Anyone with further information is asked to contact Detective Ray Gulbin at 973-509-4739.
