"Burgers" Eat Free Today—Nat'l. Cheeseburger Day

New Jersey's Smashburger locations will give free burgers to "Burgers" in celebration of National Cheeseburger Day.

Smashburger, which operates 10 stores throughout Northern New Jersey including one at 15 Bloomfield Avenue in Montclair, will give away free Smashburgers to anyone with the name “Burger” in celebration of National Cheeseburger Day on Sept. 18.

According to WhitePages.com, there are approximately 556 people in New Jersey with the last name “Burger.” Cheeseburger lovers with variations of “Burger”—such as Hamburger, Berger, etc.—in their names will receive one free Smashburger signature recipe, or create your own, burger in recognition of the carnivorous holiday. This offer is valid for redemption at Smashburger’s 10 store locations throughout Northern New Jersey while supplies last. Proof of name required (i.e. valid driver’s license, passport, or picture ID).

“We thought we would give back to those who help promote burgers each and every day—people named Burger,” said Scott Gillman, CEO of Mascott Corporation.

Smashburger says its burgers are always fresh and never frozen, and that they're made from 100 percent Certified Angus Beef.
