Heroin, Cocaine Found In Pair Of Drug Arrests
Two women were arrested in a two-day period.
A Montclair woman was arrested last Friday night on drug charges after she was found carrying eight glassine envelopes of heroin near Glenfield Middle School, police said Tuesday.
Det. Lt. Angel Roman Jr. said that an anonymous tip led the Montclair Vice Control Unit to head over to the school, where they found and arrested Karen Ayers, 48.
Ayers was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin on school property, and possession within 500 feet of a public park.
Roman said that Ayers was the same Karen Ayers arrested a year ago, in August 2011, on heroin charges.
The day after Ayers' arrest, an East Orange woman was arrested on drug charges after she attempted to sell cocaine to an undercover officer, police said.
Roman said the Montclair Vice Control Unit arrested Sameerah Green, 32, after finding 5.3 grams of cocaine packaged in small Ziploc plastic bags in her car.
Roman said that both women were sent to county jail, adding that he believes they've both since been released on their own recognizance.
