Montclair Biz On "Shark Tank" Tonight

Julie Goodman owns The Original Runner Company on Forest Street in Montclair

Julie Goldman, a Montclair businesswoman, will be featured on tonight's episode of ABC's "Shark Tank"—the emotionally charged show that offers over $10 million in investment deals to bankroll a creative array of innovative enterpreneurs.

Her company, The Original Runner Company, also was recently spotlighted on ABC's "The View."

Goldman, who lives in Short Hills but works in Montclair, launched The Original Runner Company—which offers the first non-slip fabric aisle runners for weddings and special events—in 2003.

"When I was getting married, I was looking for an aisle runner to cover up the hideous carpeting in the wedding venue. Unfortunately, there was nothing commercially available that wasn't paper or plastic," Goldman said. "The Original Runner Company idea came about because I wanted to provide other brides something of quality for a beautiful wedding that wasn't already available on the market."

After having earned a Doctorate of Education from Columbia University, Goldman said she yearned to become an entreprenur. Today her celebrity clients have included Fergie and Josh Duhamel, Bethanny Frankel, Kevin Jonas, Ashlee Simpson, and David Tutera.

Her products have been featured in various bridal magazines as well as on shows such as "My Fair Wedding with David Tutera," "Platinum Weddings," "Bridezillas," and "My Super Sweet Sixteen."
