Montclair Presents Resolution at 'Occupy Wall Street'
Residents Kate McCaffrey and Julian Brash present a resolution from AFT Local 1904 in support of the Occupy Wall Street movement.
On Friday morning, Oct. 14, faculty and students from Montclair State University traveled to Zuccotti Park in Lower Manhattan to deliver a unanimous resolution passed by Local 1904 — the Amercan Federation of Teachers union local at MSU — at its General Union Meeting. The resolution was presented to the organizers of the Occupy Wall Street encampment in support of the efforts of the OWS movement, according to Local 1904 member Rich Wolfson.
Among the emissaries were Katherine McCaffrey and Julian Brash, both of whom are Maplewood residents and professors in the Anthropology Department of Montclair State University. McCaffrey said they arrived at 10 a.m. — after some earlier incidents including a man whose leg was apparently run over by a police motorcycle — and "all was peaceful."
The group from Montclair added their names to the list of supporters and also delivered AFT t-shirts and clean dry socks — which Wolfson said were sorely needed after the rains last night.

Wow. I had Dr. Baytas for micro-economics back in 1990. He was definitely one of my most influential teachers. He steered me away from an economics major, even though I aced his class. For this I couldn't be more grateful. I'm happy to see him still fighting the fight.
