More Power Tools, Equipment Stolen in Burglaries

Montclair police responded to burglaries on Valley Road and Bloomfield Avenue this week.

Power tools and equipment were stolen in two separate burglaries this week in Montclair, according to police.

A residence on Valley Way whose homeowner recently died was broken into last Saturday, Dec. 15. Someone entered the home by breaking a rear window, according to reports.

The people responsible for the home told police a chainsaw and generator were taken, as well as jewelry. The value of the stolen items was not released.

On Monday, a site manager reported multiple items missing from a building currently being worked on at 347-349 Bloomfield Avenue. The site manager told police that nearly $2,000 worth of equipment was taken — including an air conditioning unit, a nail gun and an air compressor.

The site manager said there were a number of other subcontractors working on the building, and there did not seem to be any sign of forced entry into the area, according to reports.

On Dec. 8 and 9, police also reported two burglaries involving stolen tools and equipment from a home and construction site in town.

It would be really helpful if a story like this told us where on Bloomfield Ave 347-349 is. I know the area as well as anyone but I have no idea what the cross streets for it are (which is what everyone goes by). It should be in all stories with addresses like that on long streets, like Valley Rd or Park.
