Rally For Marriage Equality Set For Tuesday

The event will take place at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation in Montclair

This past week in a historic vote in New Jersey, the state Assembly voted 42-33 to approve gay marriage. The state Senate also approved the same measure, but Gov. Chris Christie promised to veto the measure as soon as it hit his desk - and he did late Friday.

His decision has come under criticism and some elected officials have said they will work to override the governor's veto - though it is not clear if there will be enough votes to do so.

Congregation members say they are thrilled with the legislative steps towards justice for all and we will not be deterred from that goal by the Governor’s veto or any other obstacle that stands in the way of ridding society of legalized discrimination.

If you have any questions, the office staff will be available to assist you on Tuesday morning. They can be reached at (973) 744-6276 or uumontclair@verizon.net.
