Every year, New Jersey Monthly holds a "Best of" poll to determine the best businesses in the state. The magazine ranks the best businesses by different categories and the best ones are published in the April edition of the magazine.

Last year, Montclair had numerous winners. Popular spots such as Milk Money snagged “best” in their categories. And Beyond Pita (falafel), Applegate Farm (ice cream), and Montclair Book Center (independent book store) were among the runners-up in their categories. Plus, the South Mountain Reservation was a runner-up for best hiking trail.
