Forgive me, but I reject the idea that the "best" house is also the most expensive house. In truth, most of these expensive houses are all the same- wow a wine cellar, is that stainless steel? Granite/Marble? An island? Cherry wood cabinets?

As one who watches a lot of HGTV, it seems that these expensive homes (those 500k and up) are all variations on the same theme. Rarely do you get anything different and unique.

I'm blessed with a 110-year-old farmhouse Palatial Estate in UPPER Montclair. It's a great house with a great history, but would never be considered a "best" when compared with many of these "younger" houses.

Still, one of the great joys of living in Montclair is driving around and seeing the great houses-- ALL of them from the row houses in the South End, to the farm houses on Grove, to the Center Hall Colonials everywhere else.
