Visions for Vacancies: What Should Move to 499-501 Bloomfield Ave.?

The former home of Rascals Comedy Club has been vacant for years.

In this installment of Visions for Vacancies, the Montclair Patch asks: what do you think should move into 499-501 Bloomfield Ave., the former home of Rascals Comedy Club?

All possibilities are on the table. We ask you to forget what zone it's in, ignore setback regulations, dump-lot coverage rules, and all the other zoning jargon that puts most people to sleep. If you had your way, what would you like to see there? What would be the best use for the community?

This three story building is located in the heart of Montclair's well-walked downtown and also has a liquor license. Although there is limited on-street parking, there is a parking garage nearby.

So what do you think should move in, Montclairions? A theater? A bar and lounge? A restaurant?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below! Know of a vacant space/building we should highlight? Email mike.donofrio@patch.com

They need a theater like they used to have The Whole Theater. It was run by Olympia Dukakis. Oh and a little tv studio on the side now that is so Montclair and so needed!!!

Fitzpatricks ( or is it Fitzgeralds?) should replicate their Glen Ridge tavern in this space.
We also need a blue collar bar in Watchung Plaza there is absolutely nowhere to go and socialize after you get off the train. We could use a neighborhood in Upper Montclair as well.

They should put a healthy food buffet/bar in this location. They used to have a grat salad bar right next to the blimpies years ago. They need to bring it back.
