Montclair police are investigating an armed robbery that took place last weekend when a man flashed a gun at two people sitting in a car and took their money and cell phones.

Police said the occupants were seated in a 2002 Mercedes Benz in the area of Jefferson Place around 7 p.m. when a man came up from behind the car and flashed a silver revolver at them.

A gun was pointed at the driver through the open driver’s-side window, police said, and the man reportedly told the passengers to “Give me the money; give me the keys; give me your cell phones.”

The two passengers gave the man $20 in cash, two cell phones and the keys to the car. The man, whom police did not describe, did not take the car, police said, but he fled on foot down Jefferson Place.

The investigation is ongoing, according to police.

Anyone with information about this robbery may contact the Montclair Police Department’s Detective Bureau at (973) 509-4717.
