Last year, residences consumed 40% of electricity in America. It's clear that there have been plenty of attempts at energy saving technology over the recent years to help save energy in the home, but it doesn't seem to be having a major effect, at least not yet.
ENERGY STAR has a label that you can earn for your home by helping save on electricity in your house and cutting back the nations energy consumption.
Light Logic has an article explaining better than I can on how the ENERGY STAR label works, but I'm interested if this will actually encourage more people to help cut back on usage. There's the obvious incentive of saving money on your electrical bill and then of course everyone will tell you they want to help the environment. But it seems that we as a society have not yet fully gotten over the hump to embrace energy efficiency for whatever reason we may have.
Do you think that this new ENERGY STAR label will help people save on energy in their homes?
