School of Rock Montclair will be offering a special winter break camp called “The Marshall Family Punk Rock Holiday Extravaganza” from December 26 through December 29. The camp will be led by veteran School of Rock Montclair instructors Sibvon and Kraig Marshall.
“For youngsters who’d like to really heat up their winter vacation, School of Rock Montclair will offer a righteously rocking experience where we’ll teach upbeat hits by some of punk’s most legendary groups,” says Kraig, an in-demand rock producer, engineer, and studio/touring musician. “It’s going to be a fast, fun, and energetic week that will get the kids turning up the volume to 11 and having an absolute blast.”
Included in the repertoire will be songs by Pennywise, Bad Religion, No FX, Less Than Jake, Mighty Mighty Bosstones, and Face to Face – as well as punked-up versions of classic holiday songs. Students will then get a chance to show off their skills for friends and family at Just Jake’s (30 Park Street) in a lunchtime performance on Saturday, December 29.
“Our punk rock winter break camp is targeted to kids between 9 and 17 who are guitarists, bass players, drummers, keyboard players, and singers,” says Sibvon, the principal vocal teacher at School of Rock Montclair who studied at Berklee College of Music and the Boston Conservatory. “A basic knowledge of their chosen instrument is required so we can start rocking from day one. Enrollment is open to our current students as well as new musicians who are looking for a rockin’ way to spend their winter vacation and also get an introduction to the awesome fun of punk rock.”
School of Rock Montclair’s “The Marshall Family Punk Rock Holiday Extravaganza” winter camp will take place from 9:30AM to 3:30PM from December 26 through December 28 at the School’s location at 125 Valley Road.
