This PBS documentary recalls the case of nine black teenaged boys wrongly convicted of raping a white woman in Alabama in 1931. This case of injustice is considered one of the most significant legal fights of the 20th century, one of many labeled "legal lynching."
The Undoing Racism Committee of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Montclair presents this film as the first in a film series addressing our justice system and the mass incarceration of people of color.
Christine Roz Samuels, former vice-president of the local NAACP chapter, will lead the discussion after the screening.
Opening Reception at 6:30 with film to follow at 7:00.
