Montclair Teachers Union Moved Off Agenda — Video of the Year

Video of public response to MEA president being cut off at Montclair BOE meeting went viral.

The Montclair Education Association, the union representing teachers at Montclair Schools, was taken off the Montclair Board of Education's public meeting agenda earlier this year — a move that would not be taken lightly.

The union president had enjoyed a spot on the agenda for as long as anyone could remember — some say as far back as 50 years.

But a majority of the board maintained the time slot was a privilege not a right, and the MEA would be given the first three-minutes during public comment.

The video above shows what happened during the first meeting in which the new agenda was introduced.

After the buzzer sounded signaling MEA President Gayl Shepard's time was up, copies of her remarks were distributed to the public. And what was captured is the most watched Montclair Patch video of the year.
