Patch has put together some things you need to know for Thursday.

Learn football fundamentals in time for the Super Bowl to come to the Meadowlands in January 2014. Join Montclair High School football coach John Fiore for "Football Widows," a fun-filled, lively discussion from the Adult School of Montclair. Tackling, throwing and catching the ball and agility training will be covered at the first meeting. At the second meeting, a referee teaches hand signals and participants get out on the field for some basic training! Dress appropriately. Meet on two Thursdays, Oct. 10 and 17, at the Fuzzy Furlong Fieldhouse, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tuition: $29. Register in advance or call 973-746-6636.

The 27th Annual Julia Norton Babson Memorial Lecture will take place Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Montclair Art Museum, 3 South Mountain Ave., in Montclair. The topic will be "Riches, Rivals and Radicals: A surprising story about museums in America," with award-winning museum expert Marjorie Schwarzer from the University of San Francisco.
