It’s Monday – a painful day for most people, yours truly included. Sometimes it is made even more painful as we remember just how much money we ended up spending over the weekend.

It’s one word that can make people cringe, angry and sad all at the same time, a rare occurrence indeed. There are plenty of reasons for this – people are told at work that their budgets are being cut, their ideas cannot be funded because they are not in the budget, and in our personal life, our budgets don’t usually quite match up to our desires.

As the last week of February gets under way, the idea of spring cleaning might seem a distant item that is far off in the future, especially as another swath of cold weather and snow is forecasted to pummel large areas of the country this week. That notwithstanding, it will be March by the next issue of Budget Mondays, and it is worth considering how exactly you are going to be tackling this spring cleaning. Spring time and summer time are great times of year to be entertain and enjoy your home, but spring cleaning (especially after a brutal winter like the one we have had) can be expensive.

Let’s look at a few tips to help make spring cleaning more budget friendly:

1) Buy supplies in bulk
2) Use natural cleaners, such as white vinegar and baking soda, when possible
3) Use coupons
4) Conserve water
