Foundation Grant Supports Hotline, Crisis Center for Sex Assault Victims

The Investors Foundation continues to provide charitable funding in support of non-profit programs in the communities served by Investors Bank.  Recently, the Foundation awarded a $5,000 grant to the Family Service League in Montclair.

Founded in 1881 as the Children’s Home Association, the Family Service League (FSL) provides a wide range of professional family therapy and sexual assault crisis services to Essex County residents, regardless of their income or ability to pay.  Services offered by the organization include therapy programs that address substance abuse, divorce, domestic violence, and economic impoverishment.  FSL is also the state-designated rape care center for Essex County, offering a hotline and 24-hour emergency services for victims of sexual assault and their families.  The $5,000 grant will support the delivery of these social services.

“While state support is critical, it is inadequate to provide all services, and a challenged economy has contributed to a decline in private funding for nonprofits over the past several years,” said Donald Fann, executive director of FSL.

“The generous support of organizations like the Investors Foundation is vital to the mission of the Family Service League, which has endured for more than 130 years,” added Larry Slous, who serves as FSL’s board chair.  “We are tremendously thankful for the friendship of all our donors and corporate partners.”

“Every year, the services offered by the Family Service League make a positive impact in the lives of more than 2,000 Essex County residents,” said Investors Bank President and CEO Kevin Cummings, a member of the Investors Foundation board.  “They serve a considerable and growing constituency, and they deserve the community’s continued support.”
