The Glen Ridge High School Marching Band earned its highest marks of the competition season achieving an 88.26 “Gold” rating at the Wayne Hills Marching Band Festival last Saturday.

Leading the band’s highest scores were the band’s Drum Major Tyler Winther for Best Visual; and Saxophone Soloist Maggie Barnett and Front Percussion Pit for Best Musical categories.

Consistently lauded for its high quality musical selections, GRHS Marching Band’s performance is a triumvirate of works by renowned composer Bernard Hermann, including movie theme songs from “Psycho,” “Taxi Driver,” and “North by Northwest.”

“We’ve worked extra hard this year to pull a great show together,” said Kevin Lagos, GRHS Band Director. “The kids really had to step up and dig deep, and I’m so proud that their efforts paid off."

The GRHS Marching will perform its final competition in Bloomfield on Sunday, November 3rd which is open to the public. For more information on the GRHS Marching Band, visit www.grmpa.org.
