Glen Ridge Marching Band Kicks Off its 2013 Season
The Glen Ridge High School Marching Band unveils its newest competition-ready performance during halftime at the school’s Homecoming football game September 21st. Under the direction of GRHS Music Director Kevin Lagos, the show features a trio of works by award-winning composer Bernard Herrmann, including movie theme songs from “Psycho,” “Taxi Driver,” and “North by Northwest.”
“Herrmann’s work is genius – dark and haunting but instantly recognizable,” said Lagos. “I’m so proud of the students for rising to the challenge, and working hard to bring everything together for a really great show. We’re looking forward to presenting it at last!”
Led by Drum Major Tyler Winther, this year’s Glen Ridge Marching Band boasts a drum line, the first one since in 1986. And unusual for drum lines – and percussion sections in general – this year’s drum line even includes two female students: sophomore Helen Sagges on the bass drum, and drum captain Isabel Sollohub on the snare.
