STANLEE STAHL, EXECUTIVE VP OF JEWISH FOUNDATION FOR THE RIGHTEOUS, SPEAKS TO MONTCLAIR ROTARY ABOUT RIGHTEOUS GENTILES

Stanlee Stahl, center, executive vice president of The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous (JFR), was the guest speaker at the weekly luncheon meeting of the Montclair Rotary Club, held recently at Marzullo’s Restaurant and Cafe.  With her, from left, are Montclair Rotary President Eddie Maxie, and founding member Stuart Keil. Ms. Stahl spoke about the inherent kindness and bravery of the Righteous Gentiles who risked their own lives—and often those of their families-- to save Jews from the Nazis during the Holocaust by hiding them in their homes or making secret arrangements to have them transferred to safety. Today, the organization, created in 1986, offers financial support to more than 650 aged and needy rescuers in 21 countries.  The Foundation also runs an internationally lauded Holocaust education program for middle and high school teachers and Holocaust center personnel that preserves the legacy of rescuers through its national Holocaust teacher education program.
