Youth Concert and Auditions: Youth Orchestras of Essex County

The Youth Orchestras of Essex County, the longest-operating youth orchestra in New Jersey, will hold its annual spring concert at SOPAC (South Orange Performing Arts Center) on Sunday, May 18 at 4 pm.

Talented young musicians aged 7 – 18 from our area, including many from Montclair, will be playing beautiful music in this concert.  Three symphonic orchestras are joined this year by the ABC ensemble; this group explores the joys of music from around the world, allowing the musicians the opportunity to play non-traditional instruments on pieces that are “Anything But Classical”.

Special additions to this concert are performances by student soloist competition winners, and bass-baritone Phil Cokorinos of the Metropolitan Opera performing “Deh vieni alla finestra” from Don Giovanni with the Junior Orchestra.
