Addiction, Violence Against Women Forum This Thursday

This information discussion will feature guest speakers and a short film.

 

Help yourself or someone you know by attending the forum on Addition and Violence Against Young Women on Thursday. 

The forum will feature speakers from local organizations, including:

  • The Start Out Fresh Intervention Advocates of Montclair.
  • The Rachel Coalition, which is a division of the Jewish Family Service of MetroWest that partners with New Jersey organizations to assist domestic violence victims. 
  • The National Council of Jewish Women Teen Dating Abuse Project.
  • An Advocacy Trainer for National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence who will speak about addiction and its relation to violence.

The forum is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of the Montclair area and the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence. 

"The goal of the forum is to bring information to young women and men," wrote Elizabeth Santeramo in an email, chair the Women and Family Issues Committee of the League of Women Voters. "And what prompted me to organize this forum is the increased reports on the news of assaults on young women by young men which sometimes is related to addiction/alcoholism."

There will also be a short film presented. Light refreshments will be service. 

The forum will be Thursday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the Geyer Family YMCA, at 159 Glenridge Ave.
