Design Plans Unveiled for ‘The MC,’ Montclair’s New Hotel

The MC will be a $35 million, 120,000 square foot, eight-story full service boutique hotel.

It’s happening, The MC will become Montclair’s first full-service hotel since Hotel Montclair closed its doors.

When the MC opens, it will become part of the Autograph Collection, Marriott International’s exclusive portfolio of independent hotels.

“We’re thrilled that The MC will join premier hotels including the Algonquin in New York City as part of the Autograph Collection,” said Brian M. Stolar, founder, president and CEO of The Pinnacle Companies.

Hoping to become “a new gathering spot for the community,” the MC will include “an outdoor plaza connected to a two-story round atrium with 30-foot-high glass walls,” that will be open to the public year-round.

Located at the intersection of Valley Road and Bloomfield Avenue, the MC is excellently positioned to draw crowds to and from Montclair’s downtown area.

“The tremendous public spaces surrounding the base of the project are a culmination of the Township’s master plan to create a new gateway to downtown Montclair,” said Chris Lessard, president and CEO, Lessard Design, the project’s master development architect.

The MC will also feature art exhibits, run in partnership with the Montclair Township, including a sculpture on the public plaza. Similarly, the hotel plans to collaborate with local non-profit groups to host various public events throughout the year.

In addition to valet parking, the MC will offer guests access to Ultra Low Emission Vehicle shuttles, available to transport them to Montclair’s various train stations. Guests are also invited to participate in Montclair’s new bike share program.

Featuring a farm-to-table restaurant and a rooftop bar, the 148-room hotel will also include 13,000 square feet of corporate offices, conference rooms and meeting space.

Expected to open in early 2016, construction for The MC is expected to last approximately 15 months.
