Fire Department Collects 250 Toys for Tots

The Montclair Fire Mutual Benevolence Association Local 20 held its annual toy drive on Saturday.

 

Montclair firemen gave Santa Claus and his elves a helping hand this weekend by raising hundreds of toys for needy children.  

The Montclair Fire Mutual Benevolence Association Local 20 and Zimm’s Fund held its annual toy fundraising drive for children on Saturday at Fire Department Headquarters. It was a busy day, said President of the association Daniel Ernst, who is a lieutenant in the Montclair Fire Department.

“Tons of people dropped stuff off here at fire headquarters,” said Ernst. 

The toy drive raised about 250 toys, added Ernst. All the toys went to the U.S. Marine Corps. Toys for Tots Foundation again this year. In addition, U.S. Marines were at headquarters helping collect the toys with the firefighters.

Ernst said the toy drive is a great way for the Local 20 and residents to give back to the community during the holiday season. 

“‘Tis the season for giving, right?” said Ernst. “Our local is very involved in the township and beyond. ... We try to be as active as we can in the township."
