Holiday Gift Drives in Montclair

Here is a list of the organizations holding toy drives for children in December. If you know of one not on the list, send an email to mike.donofrio@patch.com.

 

The holidays always bring out the best in people. 

Once again this year, there is no shortage of organizations in town holding holiday toy drives for needy children. While doing your holiday shopping this year, make that extra purchase and donate a new, unused gift to any one of the organizations below.

• The Montclair Fire Department will hold its annual Drop Off for Toys for Tots on Saturday, Dec. 15, from noon until 4 p.m. at Montclair Fire Department Headquarters, at 1 Pine St.

Firefighters are asking that you bring at least one unwrapped gift or donation of $10. Donations will be collected by the United States Marine Corps at the event. 

The event is sponsored by the Montclair Firefighter’s Mutual Benevolent Association #20. 

•The Salvation Army Montclair Citadel, location at 13 Trinity Place, will hold its annual toy drive through Dec. 17. 

You can drop off new toys for infants to teenagers at the citadel Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The toys will be distributed to children in the surrounding area. For more information, call (973) 744-3312.

• The Davis Chiropractic Health and Wellness Center and Montclair Police Department are teaming up for a holiday toy drive running through Dec. 17. 

The two are also working together with the Salvation Army.

Toys can be dropped off between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the health and wellness center, at 309 Orange Road. For more information, call (973) 783-3606.

Fred Astaire Dance Studio will be collecting gifts for Toys for Tots through Dec. 14. Residents can drop off toys at the studio, located at 604 Valley Road, Monday through Friday from 1 to 9 p.m. For more information, call (973) 783-8999. 

Power Stretch Studios, located at 594 Valley Road, is trying to collect 100 toys for 100 children through Dec. 18. 

Drop off new, unused toys for children aged 5 to 9 years old at the studio Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., and weekends from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. A container will also be left outside of the studio for anyone to drop off gifts during off hours. 

Members of Power Stretch Studios will distribute the gifts to children at the Newark Corporation’s holiday party. The studio will also add a holiday greeting and affirmation to the toys. For more information, call (973) 692-8670.

• Coldwell Banker, at 242 Bellevue Ave., is collecting unwrapped toys for Toys for Tots through Dec. 15. You can drop them off in the lobby of the realtor's office.
