Montclair Cooperative School Holds Second Annual Bookapalooza!

Weekend kicking off school's 50th anniversary celebration includes book and wine event with author Christina Baker Kline.

The Montclair Cooperative School will kick off its 50th anniversary celebration this weekend with the second annual Bookapalooza! 

The Bookworm Café will be open from noon to 5 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, with home-baked goods and a selection of books handpicked by Watchung Booksellers.

Friday night, adults are invited back for wine, live music and a book signing by guest author Christina Baker Kline, who will read from and discuss her New York Times Best Seller, Orphan Train.

The celebration continues Saturday with a festival, including more books, outdoor games, local artists, food vendors and live music from 1963, the year the school was founded. The school’s founder and longtime director, Lauretta Freeman, will be honored during a special ceremony.

All events will be held at the school located at 65 Chestnut St.

FRIDAY

Noon to 5 p.m. Book sale and Bookworm Cafe with Watchung Booksellers

6 to 8 p.m. Book & Wine event, live music and book signing with Christina Baker Kline, author of Orphan Train ($10 suggested donation) 

SATURDAY

9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Bookworm Cafe, book sale, grilled food, outdoor games for kids, local vendors, live music, ceremony to commemorate 50th anniversary
