Fourth of July Parade Closes Several Montclair Roads

Here's a look at where to avoid while driving through town Thursday morning.

The 63rd annual Montclair Fourth of July Parade will step off Thursday at 11 a.m. 

The parade begins at Bloomfield and South Fullerton avenues and travels 1.6 miles along Midland Avenue, continuing to Watchung Avenue and west to Valley Road before culminating in Edgemont Park.

There will be numerous road closures and areas of town to avoid, according to Montclair Police:

  • South Fullerton Avenue closed from Gates to Bloomfield avenues.
  • Bloomfield Avenue closed from Gates to N/S Mountain avenues.
  • Midland Avenue closed from Bloomfield to Watchung avenues.
  • Valley Road closed from Berkeley to Appleton.

If you are traveling through town, the MPD suggests the following alternate routes:

  • Traveling North & South: Use Upper Mountain Avenue, Highland Avenue, Grove Street or Elm Street.
  • Traveling East & West: Use Gordonhurst Avenue or any street north. Use Cedar Avenue or Llewellyn Road if south of Bloomfield Avenue.
