Montclarian Fears Dog Poisoned at County Park

Four-year-old dog died two hours after walk in a Montclair park.

A Montclair woman is searching for the reason her dog died just hours after a seemingly routine walk at Mills Reservation Saturday.

The woman, Diane Herbst, told CBS 2 that she went for a walk with her 4-year-old dog, Gingee, and within hours the dog had suddenly become lethargic and then unexpectedly died.

The woman’s veterinarian said the dog was most likely the victim of poison, drugs or “some kind of clot or aneurysm,” Herbst told Baristanet.com.

Herbst hung flyers around the park warning other dog owners of her experience, though she’s unsure what exactly caused the dog to die.

The county is apparently aware of the situation and investigating, and Herbst reportedly contacted the Essex County Sheriff’s Department.
