With Montclair and many other towns moving trick-or-treating to Friday night, one would think there would have been a lot of disappointed kids running amok on Monday night.
Across Montclair, kids went out dressed as everything from Bob the Builder to ballerinas—with parents not even aware that township officials had recommended trick-or-treating be moved to Friday due to downed tree branches and power lines.
"What? Trick-or-treating's been canceled? That's crazy," said Sally Holbern, a mother of two. "No one even knows that. Everyone's out tonight."
Meanwhile, many kids were also excited to hear that school was canceled again on Tuesday.
"This is like the best Halloween week ever!" exclaimed Tom Kennedy, 7. "No school for the rest of the week!"
