A model of the Montclair Art Museum inside an inflatable snow globe was installed in Montclair Center last week — and you can win a prize for simply tweeting a photograph of it.
SnowMAM, as the installation on South Park Street is affectionately known, is creating some buzz for the museum, which celebrates its centennial with a birthday bash next month.
To enter the Twitter photo contest, tweet a picture of the SnowMAM Snow Globe to #MAMatMontclairCenter. The photo could be a portrait, a streetscape, a selfie — it’s your call. Entries will be accepted through Wednesday, Jan. 15.
On Monday, Dec. 23, a random entrant will win a $50 gift certificate to their favorite store or restaurant in Montclair Center.
A second drawing will be held at the museum on Feb. 6 during the Free First Thursday events. The winner of the second drawing will receive a Montclair Art Museum package valued over $100.
SnowMAM is the first major collaboration between the museum and the Montclair Center Business Improvement District (BID). Both entities share the vision of incorporating more public art in the township’s largest commercial district.
“Montclair means art,” MAM Director Lora Urbanelli said, “and it's important to the Museum and all of us for that message to become more visible and dynamic, which the snow globe will undoubtedly help do.”
The museum will have a 100th Birthday Party on Wednesday, Jan. 15. The celebration will include a performance by the Newark Boys Chorus and a signature cake made by Cake Boss Buddy Valastro.
