3 Academy Award Nominees Are Montclair Film Festival Alums

Tickets now on sale for MFF's Oscars' Eve Party.

The Montclair Film Festival sure knows how to pick 'em.

Three of the five Documentary Features nominated for a 2014 Academy Award are alumni of last year's 2013 festival, including The Art of Killing, Dirty Wars, and 20 Feet From Stardom. The latter, which tells the stories of background singers living in the shadows of the stars, was shown during the festival's Opening Night with director Morgan Neville and film subject Darlene Love in attendance.

The other nominees in the Documentary Feature category are The Square and Cutie and the Boxer

The MFF's annual Oscars' Eve Party — a celebration of filmmaking — is planned for Saturday, March 1, at Chill, 312 Bloomfield Ave., in Montclair. Tickets went on sale to the general public on Friday, Jan. 24.

The third annual Montclair Film Festival will take place from April 28 through May 4.
