American Idol Finalist Takes the Stage at Millburn Playhouse

The Paper Mill Playhouse announces the cast of "The Sound of Music" including Edward Hibbert of "Fraiser" and Anthony Fedorov, a finalist on "American Idol."


An "American Idol" finalist and actor from "Frasier" take the stage in the Paper Mill Playhouse's holiday production of "The Sound of Music" opening Nov. 23. 

“I’m thrilled to bring this wonderful show back to Millburn,” the producing artistic director for the Paper Mill Playhouse, Mark S. Hoebee, said in a release. “Rodgers and Hammerstein’s 'The Sound of Music' is an audience favorite and among the most celebrated titles in the musical theater canon."

Edward Hibbert, who will play Max Detweiler, appeared on all 11 seasons of "Frasier" as Gil Chesterton. On Broadway, Hibbert also appeared in "The Milk Train Doesn’t Stop Here Anymore", "Mrs. Warren’s Profession", "Curtains", "The Drowsy Chaperone", "Noises Off", "Me and My Girl", and others

Anthony Fedorov, "American Idol" finalist, will play the character Rolf. After he placed fourth on "American Idol's" season 4, Fedorov worked regionally and Off-Broadway as Roger in "Rent" and Matt in "The Fantasticks." 

Drama Desk Nominee Donna English will play Elsa Schraeder.  English returns to Paper Mill, where she appeared in "Hairspray", "Harold and Maude"  and "Meet Me in St. Louis," among many others.

The von Trapp family consists of: Ben Davis, New York, as Captain Georg, Eleana Shaddow , Ho-Ho- Kus, as Maria, Chelsea Morgan Stock , New York, as Liesl, Gracie Beardsley, Summit, as Marta, Greta Clark, Fenton, as Gretl, Maya Fortgang, Verona, as Brigitta, Amanda Harris, Montclair, as Louisa, Hunter A. Kovacs, Maplewood, as Kurt and Sean McManus, Chatham, as Friedrich.

The show will be directed and choreographed by James Brennan.
