Blink-182 to Reopen Wellmont Theater in Montclair

Live Nation Entertainment spent summer renovating Montclair venue. More concert announcements expected next week.

Pop punk band blink-182 will be the first act to play at The Wellmont Theater in Montclair since Live Nation Entertainment took over the venue earlier this year, Sean Striegel, Live Nation vice president of booking for New Jersey and New York, said Tuesday.

Pre-sale tickets for the Friday, Sept. 6 appearance of blink-182 go on sale Wednesday, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. ET on www.ticketmaster.com. The public sale begins Thursday at 10 a.m. For details visit www.thewellmonttheater.com

Red Bull Records’ band NeW bEAt FUNd will open for blink-182.

Tickets will not immediately be available at the Seymour Street Box Office.

Additional acts will be announced next week, according to the venue's website.

MGMT was the last act booked by Bowery Presents, which ended its run with the venue in June.

The theater has been closed all summer for renovations, which Striegel, said include an overall spruce-up and a new state-of-the-art sound and lighting system.

Blink-182 begins its North American tour on August 31 in Canada, playing a mix of radio shows, festivals, casinos, clubs and more through Sept. 22. Two benefit shows include one at the newly reopened Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, NJ to support Sandy Relief on Sept. 10.

The next day, they'll play at the Music Hall of Williamsburg in Brooklyn, donating performance fees to cancer research, burn treatment centers and more.

Blink-182 is giving away free tickets to the Wellmont show on the band's Facebbok page.
