Faure's Requiem at St. John's Episcopal Church

A Requiem is originally a Mass from the Roman Missal that is celebrated for the repose of the souls of the deceased.  Great composers such as Mozart, Verdi, Brahms, and Berlioz have set this liturgical text into large-scale masterpieces but Gabriel Fauré’s setting is perhaps one of the most beloved among all the other Requiems.  Fauré has left us with some of the most ethereal and beautiful music that highlights, not the pain and grief from death, but rather new beginnings.  On Saturday May 12th at 4pm,  the choir at St. John’s Episcopal Church will perform this work along with guest musicians.  This free concert will be at St. John's, 55 Montclair Ave., Montclair, NJ.
