Montclair High Singers Fundraising for CD, Gas Money

Help The Passing Notes reach their $1,500 goal. Hire them for a free concert.

Montclair High School’s student run a cappella group would like you to pass them a note — a bank note that is.

The Passing Notes are holding their first fundraiser to help fund their 2012-13 full-length recording, as well as raise some gas money to help transport the singers to future gigs.

The group is about half-way to its $1,500 goal on Indiegogo with a month left of campaigning.

There are perks to being a donor: $5 gets you their original 2008 CD, $20 gets you a copy of their upcoming CD, $50 entitles you to a new CD and a mention in the liner notes, and for a $100 donation The Passing Notes will arrange a song of your choice and present you with a video recording of the arrangement.

The Passing Notes was founded in 2002 by Tess Smagorinsky and have grown to be a coveted act for fundraisers and other events. The group performs in and around Montclair, always free of charge, and spends more than 200 hours rehearing each year.

They have performed in the Haiti Benefit Concert, the Giggles Children's Theater, at the Alaris Health Care Center, at a media conference in New York, and even at a wedding.
