WHERE: Turtle Back Zoo, West Orange

WHY GO: Experience Turtle Back Zoo in the winter as 100,000 bulbs and 40 lit displays illuminate the zoo this holiday season!
COST: Free. Turtle Back Zoo will be collecting non-perishable food, winter coats and unwrapped new toys for the needy each evening of holiday lights.

WHY GO: Visit Kip’s Castle during the month of December for a self-guided tour of the first floor and experience the holidays circa 1928.
WHERE: Thomas Edison National Historical Park, West Orange
WHEN: Friday, Saturday, Sunday 10am – 4pm
WHAT: Glenmont will be decorated much as it was while the Edison family lived there. Favorite musical pieces will be playing and greenery and red poinsettias will deck the mantles above the fireplaces. Staircases will be ringed with boughs and red ribbon bows and wreaths will hang in every window. In the Den, the majestic 10 foot tree will be lit and the presents underneath.
COST: Admission is $7.00, and includes the Glenmont Estate and the Laboratory Complex. Children under age 16 are free.
WHERE: Tierney’s Tavern

WHY GO: KICK OFF your Holidays with 3rdValve Rock ! This 11 piece horn band will be playing your favorite hits by Chicago, the Stones, Springsteen, Clapton & Shery Crow, Van Morrison, and many MORE! Expect to hear a few Holiday tunes, and bring a businees card to throw in the ol' Santa hat for your chance to sing back up with the band!

WHY GO: During the weekend of Saturday, December 3 and Sunday, December 4 adoption fees for the Shelter’s available cats and adolescent kittens (age 5+ months) will be reduced to $5. Stop by the Shelter at 77 North Willow Street between 2:00—4:00 p.m. both days and meet the resident kitties.

WHY GO: Celebrate the beauty and light of the holiday season as the New Jersey Choral Society presents "on a winter’s night". The uplifting program featuring such festive works as Bach’s “Magnificat in D major,”“Fantasia on Christmas Carols” by Ralph Vaughan Williams, and “Gloria” by Randol Alan Bass. Some seasonal favorites include “In the Bleak Midwinter,” “Lo how a Rose e’er Blooming” and “Angels we have Heard on High” as well as such beautiful Christmas anthems as “Night of Silence” and “There is no Rose of such Virtue.” Organist Linda Sweetman-Waters and a full orchestra will accompany the chorus. The NJCS Children’s Chorale and soloists David Adams, Keith Harris, Megan Knapp, Alicia Luick, and Ryan Milkwick will be featured. In support of the Center for Food Action, the New Jersey Choral Society will be collecting nonperishable food items at each concert..

WHY GO: On Sunday, December 4 at 4 pm, you are invited to taste the wines Thomas Jefferson enjoyed when he traveled through France. Wine expert JoAnn LoGiurato, from Dancing on Grapes, will lead a 2-hour wine-tasting class designed to teach you about Thomas Jefferson’s life while you taste the wines he loved
