Downtown New Jersey Applauds Montclair Center

New maps, directory and signage receive platinum award from statewide non-profit.

Downtown New Jersey, a non-profit dedicated to ensuring the vitality of the state’s downtowns, recently recognized Montclair Center for being an easy place to get around.

The Montclair Center Business Improvement District (BID) was presented with a 2013 Platinum Tools of the Trade Award for its pedestrian and parking wayfinding system.

The system, implemented earlier this year, was funded by a Transit Village grant and the BID, and was designed by Arterial Design Studio of Montclair. The map and directory designs were created by Carrie Chatterson Studios of Brooklyn.

"We are so pleased to have our hard work recognized," said Lydia Fantozzi, Montclair Center Program Coordinator. "Montclair Center is a pedestrian community and now we have the proper tools to enjoy the district on foot.”

The new signage includes maps with highlights of ground-floor merchants and restaurants as well as signs which direct drivers to parking lots.
