Funplex's New Water Park Makes a Big 'Splash'

Funplex's new water park opened in mid-June, and workers have since been impressed at how quick the East Hanover business has taken off.

Kim Kramm, one of the manager's at Funplex, said the staff was "extremely happy" with the first season.

"We've had an overwhelmingly positive response from everybody," Kramm said. "We've had a lot of walk-in guests from the local community, and we've done a lot of group events, special events and birthday parties, so it's been really positive."

Although local camps have already been coming to Funplex for years, Kramm said they saw an increase in camp travel groups this year since adding the water park.

Guests have been cooling off all summer in the new water park that has two water slides, a 5-foot deep pool, elevated water blasters, hydro storm towers and loose water hoses.

The water slides, standing 24 feet high, have probably been the most popular attraction this summer, Kramm said.

The park offers both daily and seasonal passes, priced at $12.95 for kids and $8.95 for adults daily, and $39 for kids and $29 for adults for the whole summer. Seasonal passes for both the indoor and outdoor attractions at Funplex are also offered for $79. Kramm said they had a great response for both of the seasonal passes.

With few water attractions in northern New Jersey, Kramm said bringing Splashplex brought something unique. Many families travel further distances to other water attractions, she added, so the park is very convenient.

"I think it's great because it offers an attraction that's nothing like anything in the area," she said. "This gives them an opportunity to have something in their backyard that they can enjoy. We've had a lot of positive feedback from people as to how much they've enjoyed it."

While the park saw hundreds of guests come in the past two months, Kramm said the biggest crowd was probably at the kick-off party on June 16 where about 300 people came to enjoy  pool first. The party included a barbeque, games and DJ entertainment in addition to the water activities.

The water park is still open for a few more weeks until Labor Day, but Kramm said the staff is already looking forward to the next season.

"We had an extremely successful first summer, and we're very excited moving forward to see the Splashplex grow and to see our business grow with it," she said.

The indoor attractions at Funplex are still open year-round.

With the first summer almost behind them, Kramm said the staff has fulfilled one of their main goals, to create a fun attraction for everyone—from toddlers to adults.

"We're just happy to be able to offer something for families for all ages, that's always something that's very difficult to do.

"When we created Splashplex that was one of our main goals—to make sure that we could provide families with something that the entire family could enjoy—and we're happy that we were able to achieve that and offer it to everyone."
