Montclair Furniture Store Closing

Owner of Saplings to focus on in-home decorating.

After moving to Montclair about 18 months ago, Saplings, a furniture and home décor shop specializing in rooms for the youngest members of a family, will close in early February.

Owner Cindy Blanco made the bittersweet announcement Monday.

“We will be an in-home decorating company from now on,” Blanco said. “Still in business just without a retail store.”

Everything in the 74 Church Street shop has been marked down by 60%, and pictures of available floor models will be posted on the Saplings Facebook page.

Blanco said she will continue to offer all her favorite vendors, including American Heritage Furniture, Pine Cone Hill bedding and Dash & Albert Company rugs.

Before opening Saplings (which was originally located in Caldwell) in 2003, she worked creating displays and designs for major and specialty retailers, she told Patch in 2012.

Blanco will be available for home consultations by appointment (201-704-5867).

“It's either at the customers home or my home to see swatches and samples!”

She’s also available for party planning and other creative needs.
