Why did you choose this business?

There is plenty of yoga jewelry out there in studios, stores, and online but a lot of it is very hippie and bohemian which is great, but I realized there was a lack in the market for modern or urban yoga jewelry and accessories. I would consider Urban Hippie to be a cross between Free People and  J.Crew – Modern and refined with a boho flare. For instance we have metallic snake print yoga mat bags and Japa Mala Prayer beads with Neon Pink tassels.

How does the location benefit?

I’m currently only selling online and fulfilling orders out of my apartment in Montclair  but hope to start selling my product through boutiques and yoga studios in Montclair. There is a huge market for yoga accessories in Montclair and I think our Urban Hippie brand encompasses the Montclair woman perfectly – Modern with a hippie flare.

Have you been successful?

Business is steadily increasing online through our Etsy page and our social media, mostly Instagram,  is increasing everyday with more followers and  interest. As I mentioned my goal is to get into Yoga studios in the area and participate in local events as well. My ultimate goal down the road is to open up a Store / Yoga studio in town.

Urban Hippie sells, Japa Mala Beads (prayer beads used in Yoga), Druzy Stones, Yoga Mat Bags, Head Chains, Buddhas Evil Eyes and Om Charms, Semi Precious Stones. Jewelry and Accessories aren’t just for Yogis, there are also modern and trendy boho style.
