University Hospital Enhances Quality of Care with Upgrades to Patient Rooms

Newark, N.J. – University Hospital, one of the nation’s leading academic medical centers, is undertaking a project to upgrade many of its patient rooms and enhance quality and comfort for both patients and their families.  The hospital recently purchased new patient chairs, overbed tables, bedside cabinets and guest chairs for 135 patient rooms in its cardiac, neuroscience and trauma/surgery units. Part of the Nurture® by Steelcase range, the furniture was purchased as part of an incremental upgrade of the hospital’s patient rooms which also included the recent addition of new patient beds in 293 rooms. 

Working with DS&D, a leading building interior solutions company, the hospital will begin replacing patient furniture during the week of March 17.  Installation of the furniture is being carried out incrementally.  The new Nurture® by Steelcase furniture is designed to facilitate connections between patients, families, and clinicians and create a welcoming, comfortable environment.
