Dog Licenses Need to be Renewed, Rabies Clinics Coming Up

Don't forget to get your dog licenses at the start of the new year.

 

Got a pooch in the house? Then don't forget to renew your dog's license with the township. 

Dog licenses need to be renewed annually in Montclair. This year, all licensing requires dogs to have their current rabies vaccinations. Make sure your dog rabies vaccination does not expire before Nov. 1, 2013.

If your dog was recently vaccinated, a copy of the rabies vaccination certificate should be enclosed with the license form.

All dog licenses must be renewed by March 1. A $5 late fee will be incurred thereafter.

The fees for dog liceneses are as follows: 

• Neutered/spayed – $8
• Non-neutered/spayed – $11

To renew your dog license by mail, send the license form with rabies vaccination certificate (if required) and a check made payable to “The Township of Montclair" to:

Your tag will be mailed to you. Any returned checks will incur a $20 fee and must be paid in cash, otherwise your dog will be recorded as unlicensed and subject to a summons.

Winter Rabies Clinics 

The 2013 Winter Rabies Clinics for cats and dogs are scheduled for the following dates. Keep in mind, dogs and cats should not be fed for six hours prior to the rabies vaccination. Each dog and cat must be on a leash or carrier and accompanied by an adult. 

• Tuesday, Feb. 12: Edgemont Shelter House, at 292 Valley Road, Montclair 

Dogs: 6 to 6:45 p.m.
Cats: 6:45 to 7:30 p.m.

• Wednesday, Feb. 20: Cedar Grove Municipal Building, at 525 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove

Dogs: 6 to 6:45 p.m.
Cats: 6:45 to 7:30 p.m.
