Health Forum in Montclair on Wednesday

The Montclair Health Department is hosting a free forum Wednesday on how to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your diet and eat healthier. The program will be led by registered dietitian Audrey Laurelton.

There will be a live cooking demo, recipes, shopping tips and more starting at noon in the municipal building's second floor conference room, at 205 Claremont Ave.

Mark your calendars and attend the following health programs and events in town. 

• Cardiac Risk Assessment: Wednesday, Feb. 13, from 9:30  to 11:30 a.m. 

The assessment will include going over glucose, cholesterol, body mass index, pulse palpation and blood pressure.

The cost is $25 for ages 55 and older and $30 for those under 55.

It will be held in the municipal building's second floor conference room, at 205 Claremont Ave. An appointment is required. Call (973) 509-4969 for more information or to schedule an appointment. 

• Stay Fit While You Sit: Wednesday, Feb. 27, at noon

If you sit on the job then you may not know how to best reduce the strain you’re putting on your body. Increase your productivity by minimizing the stress created by poor posture and by creating an “ergonomically correct” workstation that properly utilizes the workspace.

Dr. Alfred Davis, D.C., will speak at the event.

• Colorectal Cancer Screening: Wednesday, March  13, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Each participant will be provided a take home E-Z Detection kit. Education material and counseling will be available. No appointment is necessary.

• SMAC Blood Test: Saturday, March 16, at 8 a.m. 

This event will be done in conjunction with Porite Laboratories. You will be tested in over 20 values, such as calcium, cholesterol, iron, glucose, sodium, potassium and tricyclerides. 

The cost is $36.
