Lend a Hand: Clear a Fire Hydrant of Snow

The Montclair Fire Department reminds everyone to remove all snow covering fire hydrants.

Winter snowstorms create a special concern for the Montclair Fire Department as fire hydrants can be buried under large amounts of snow, making them difficult to find quickly.

While the snow is still piled high, be sure to remove any snow still covering fire hydrants.

The fire department asks residents and business owners to help keep their neighborhood fire hydrants cleared so that in the event of a fire, firefighters don't lose time locating and shoveling them out before being able to hook up to them.

Time lost could mean all the difference in an emergency.
