President's Day Closings, Schools Off Through Wednesday

Find out how NJ Transit, PATH train schedules will run on Monday.

 

Monday is President's Day. This is a federal holiday, so United States Post offices, banks and all government offices will be closed. 

Traditionally known as Washington's Birthday, this federal holiday is celebrated the third Monday of February. It was enacted in 1879 by Congress for government offices in Washington, D.C., and expanded later in 1885 to include all federal offices.

The Montclair School District will also be closed Monday and Tuesday for President's Day, and Wednesday for a teacher's workshop. The district had held Wednesday, Feb. 20 in abeyance in the event there was a need for a second snow make-up day. The first snow make-up day for students was Friday, March 29, Good Friday.

School will resume Thursday for Montclair students.

NJ Transit, PATH Trains

NJ Transit trains on the Morris & Essex Lines, the Montclair-Boonton Line, Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line, Raritan Valley Line and Port Jervis Line will run on an enhanced weekend schedule with additional trains during the monring and afternoon peak periods. 

All other lines will run on a regular weekend schedule without additional trains. 

Bus schedules will vary by route, since some may be affected by the holiday.

PATH train service running on the Newark-World Trade Center line and Journal Square to 33 Street line through Hoboken will operate on a Saturday schedule.
