Adult Art Workshop: Dry Point Print as Drawing Workshop
Drypoint Print as Drawing Workshop
Sunday, March 16, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Instructor: Dorothy Cochran
$90 Members, $110 Nonmembers
Drypoint is a form of engraving that contemporary artists who love line and texture gravitate toward. These marks are simply scratched into a metal or plastic plate with a sharp point. The displaced metal thrown up by the tool, known as the burr, creates a characteristic velvety line when inked and printed on an etching press. Participants in this workshop will draw directly onto plates made of copper and plexiglass to create small gems of graphic beauty with simple means. Discussion and demonstrations include tool choice, papers, inking, and printing methods. This is a completely non-toxic method. Beginners to experienced are welcome. Materials fee of $40 payable to the instructor on day of workshop. Please visit montclairartmuseum.org for a list of additional supplies to bring.
