“Our 2014 theme, Bending Toward Justice, is borrowed from a quote by Martin Luther King, Jr.,” said Marcia Marley, BlueWaveNJ president and founder. “As we honor these individuals, who are making a significant difference in their community, New Jersey, and the nation on a wide range of issues, we want to remind our fellow advocates to keep ‘bending the arc’ and remain passionate, committed and engaged.”

The annual ball, which is open to the public, includes a cocktail reception, silent auction, dinner and dancing.  Music will be provided by Montclair’s award-winning Jazz House Kids and DJ Lou.

Among the in-demand auction items are tickets to “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” on Broadway; several luxury beachfront properties, including one on Fire Island; and front row seats to a Mets game.

Tickets for the ball start at $150 per person, and include a one-year BlueWaveNJ membership. For more information on tickets and sponsorships, contact Marcia Marley at 201-247-4668 or www.tinyurl.com/bwnjball.

Proceeds from the auction will benefit anti-violence programs and Succeed2gether, a nonpartisan 501c3 organization that provides after-school tutoring, all-day summer enrichment, math and literacy workshops, and empowerment programs for students from elementary to high school.
