MAM's African American Cultural Committee is proud to welcome author and prominent New York City Legal Aid Society lawyer, Dr. Marlen Suyapa Bodden. Dr. Bodden has more than two decades experience representing poor, low-wage, and immigrant workers, many of whom are severely underpaid, if paid at all. Her knowledge of modern and historical slavery, human trafficking, and human rights abuses drew her to write The Wedding Gift, her first novel.
